Biog:

In recent years DJ NoFace has risen to become one of the most respected and renowned DJs in Scotland. As resident for Mixed Bizness, his own Bad News project and the Elektrikal Soundsystem, his free flowing, genre busting take on contemporary bass music has set him apart from the rest and placed him amongst the best.

A regular feature at the top clubs and festivals in the country, NoFace has spun alongside some of the most renowned and varied bastions of electronic music. From Magnetic Man to Fake Blood, Jackmaster to Newham Generals, Roni Size to Foreign Beggars, he’s stood tall and more often than not outshone the big names whenever they have come to town. So often a highlight at the finest night spots in Scotand, firm favourites such as Sub Club, The Arches, Snafu, Cabaret Voltaire and The Bongo Club have all been shown a thing or two in making people move to the beat of a drum. Not only that, NoFace’s noise has been brought in equal measures to some of the biggest festivals on the calendar with T in the Park, Wickerman, Belladrum all living to tell the tale once the last tune has rung out across the masses.

Not limited to running his own back yard, NoFace has found himself causing a frenzy in some of the best spots across the globe with sell out gigs as far afield as Amsterdam, Beijing, Tallin and Argeles.

NoFace effortlessy brings together disparate styles, bridging the gaps between hip hop, dubstep, bashment, jungle, house, garage and anything else that’s been know to get our parties started. That’s why we love him so. Check the mixtapes and get to know…

Biog:

Profisee cut his musical teeth with the heavy hitting Yard Emcees whose self titled EP earned them a Dazed & Confused award for music and a deal with innovative label One Little Indian in 2003.Since parting ways and focusing on his solo work, Profisee has notched up collaborations with artists such as Hint (Tru Thoughts), The Hidden Orchestra (Tru Thoughts) and Neil Landstrumm (Planet Mu). Profisee’s consistently flawless delivery backed with intelligent lyrics has brought him the respect of anyone lucky enough to have crossed his path.

His sounds have transported him through London to Mexico, whilst headlining at the Big Chill Festival on his tour with Hexstatic along the way. Championed by the likes of Rinse FM, Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1, the Zoning E.P was the first official release through his Cloak X Dagger label. Produced by acclaimed San Francisco producer Eprom, Profisee took the squelching beats & bass to another dimension with remixes by the LuckyMe cool-ective, on both digital and vinyl format.

Profisee’s debut album ‘From All Angles’ boasts an impressive array of accomplished and fresh out the blocks producers such as the bass music don Starkey, electronica’s indomitable Neil Landstrumm, riddim king Poirier ,beat mathematician Dam Mantle and Glasgow’s current hip hop medallion S-Type, allowing Profisee to utilise his formidable delivery across an enticing musical landscape. From All Angles explores the tests and quests we all experience and seek: finding a direction, keeping perspective, and reflection, recognising that we already possess all the tools we ever need, Profisee surmises “Find yourself, then make the progression”

Biog:

Soosh aka Soroosh Khavari was born in Iran, escaping to Scotland fleeing persecution when a year old with his family. Taking a year out from his job as a dentist, Soosh went travelling and found his niche in British Columbia, Canada. Armed with a tape recorder, sampler, couple of synthesizers and an overflowing heart, there he finally managed to finish his first works. Described by indie electronic darlings Alpha Pup as ‘Juicy, warm and deep sound with plenty of microscopic details and soothing mental rhythm, lyric mood of a summer evening and crumbling crystals of subtle percussion’ – all this forms a little “big” world of Soosh.

His debut release was the massively well received ‘Soosh’ EP for Jumble Records, which was swiftly followed by his effortlessly ethereal remixes for Shlomo and Sina. All of which have garnered him fans all over the globe, from Daedelus to XLR8R, ensuring he finished 2011 as he means to go on. 2012 will see releases for Up My Alley, Fremdtunes and Project Mooncircle, the latter being a collaborative EP with UK beat smith Memotone, as we all lie back and take notice.

The fruit of Soosh’s labours make like a melodic abstract syrup, laced with a healthy dose of b-boy bravado and blended with a pinch of intricate soul. Infatuated with complex textures, floating rhythms and all post-post Soosh invites us to take a break from all the swag and boom-boom wonk-dom that clogs up our airways and routes of sonic travel so often these days.

Sit back, relax, dance…

Biog:

Mia Dora are Glasgow based production duo Rob Etherson and Al Quinn. Having cut their teeth at different ends of the musical spectrum, they first came together at one of Glasgow’s many post Sub Club flat parties where a certain Claude VonStroke just happened to be playing the decks. Rob had been making house music and engineering for various Glasgow producers for a while and Al had found himself playing in metal bands and DJing old skool hip hop and electronic party sets when called upon but despite these disparate tastes and back grounds they shared a love for deep, bass heavy house music…just the sort Mr Vonstroke specialises in. Them too as it happens.

They started off by offering up free bootlegs to select Glasgow DJs, refixing the likes of Olive and Biggie Smalls and sending them out to be heard by those that would listen. This list was small at first. Now it’s not so small. Mia Dora was born and they set about developing a truly original house sound, drawing on hip hop and garage, brimming with energy and emotion and sounding like nobody else. Word soon spread and before long UK hip hop powerhouse Big Dada came looking for a remix for ‘Get The Get’, the lead single from Roots Manuva’s album 4EVEREVOLUTION. Achieved with devestating results, their remix has already been held up as one of the tracks of 2012 and has made massive fans of radio DJs like Mary Anne Hobbs, Giles Peterson, Rob Da Bank and Mash, with constant plays on BBC Radio 1, XFM and Capitol Radio. Support has continued to flood in with DJ Magazine declaring Mia Dora as one of the main artists to keep tabs on in 2012 with a full page spread covering their plans for the year ahead.

2012 will see their debut ‘Romanticise’ EP released on Glasgow’s fresh faced High Sheen label, a 4 track slice of club jamming house, garage and aqua beats that will see Mia Dora receive in return the love they give to us. There’s so much more to come from Mia Dora and it seems everyone is waiting to hear it first..

HaHaHa is the new sound of electronic music to emerge from the seemingly endless supply of talent coming out of Glasgow. As unique and exciting a prospect as they come, he is set to make his mark on a wider audience with his indefinable take on the modern house and techno blueprint. So far he may have just one release to his name but he’s already made massive fans out of Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Sinden, A-Trak, DJ Mehdi, The Revenge, LuckyMe, Optimo, Malente, Teki Latex and Martyn. Such a range of enthusiasts is testament to the diversity found in his music and the far reaching appeal that comes with honing such a distinct sound. Neck snapping drums, heart wrenching melodies, teasing breakdowns and the lowest of ends make sure that HaHaHa’s music translates from your headphones to the club with the greatest of ease and never fails to move the collective floor whenever one of his tracks get dropped.

Whether treating audiences to one of his super smooth and upfront DJ sets or demolishing clubs with his incendiary live performances, this precocious 22 year old belies his youth with a musical sophistication and technical prowess that is so sorely lacking in today’s ever transparent and throw away music culture.

2010 saw HaHaHa release his debut ‘Evil’ EP on Swimteam Records, a label he co-runs, introducing those in the know to his unique slant on contemporary club music and setting the wheels in motion to bring his music to the world at large. 2011 is set to be the making of HaHaHa with some of the most respected labels around queuing up to work with him. Best believe it.

Biog:

Memory9 a.k.a. Gadi Sassoon is a Milan’s “prodigious bleep-freak”, who combines a virtuosic control of live electronics with organic musicianship to create truly intriguing music, influenced by an array of diverse sounds, from Modeselektor, Aphex Twin and Squarepusher to jazz and punk rock.

A largely self-taught musician, he started performing at the age of 15 in the Italian underground, and shortly after achieved a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music on the grounds of his outstanding talent. He then moved to the USA for two years to immerse himself in jazz and electronic music. The years that followed were spent performing many memorable shows across North America and Europe, eventually landing him in London, where he started playing regularly at clubs and festivals. A residency with renowned promoters Soundcrash established his reputation as a high-calibre performer through his unique setups – from solo work with peculiar machines and homemade software to a full live setup with two drum kits, live electronics and guitar.

Having returned to his native Milan to focus on composition and production, Memory9 released the first single since his debut EP. The single, ‘Crash’, was written in San Francisco in the summer of 2009, while Memory9 was on tour. Partly inspired by JG Ballard’s novel of the same name and partly by the artist’s personal experience of a high-speed car crash, the track itself is an exploration of delicate textures, intricate drum programming and lush vocal melodies.

The follow up release, “Mission” featuring Juakali, recently released on burgeoning UK label Skanky Panky Records, stirred international attention and raised awareness for an artist who has so far been completely underground and devoted most of his time performing on stage. A truly incredible remix for DJ Vadim’s latest project The Electric continued to push the Memory 9 name to the forefront of today’s ever expanding electronic music scene. 2011 will see for the first time the release of a huge volume of Memory9 studio work, but will also be a year full of touring and festival appearances.

‘Memory9 is some truly next level innovation. Blew me away the first time i saw him do his thing.’ DJ Vadim
‘Memory9 is like a Roller Coaster ride on Stanley Kubrick’s White Horse Spaceship.” Mochipet
‘The sound you can imagine being played ten years into the future’ UKHH
‘Memory9, quite an enlightening experience in any standard. This guy is fresh and raw as *%$k!’ Clash Magazine
‘Memory9 is stupidly adept at the sampler, mashing up everything from techno to hip hop with a well-timed flick of the wrist’ Planet Notion

Biog:

S-Type, aka Bobby Perman, is a 24 year old producer hailing from Edinburgh but residing in Glasgow. Born into a Scottish music dynasty, he is the latest Perman to make his name in this business we call music. His older brother Dougal is director and founder of Radiomagnetic, The UK’s longest running online radio broadcaster, and his younger older brother Tommy is label head of Scottish imprint Surface Pressure Records and a member of FOUND, Scotland’s finest experimental pop band. It’s no surprise then that this young buck has followed in such footsteps and made his own name in the here and now. Citing influences from Timbaland, DJ Khalil, Ryan Leslie and The Neptunes, to Swindle and Joker, S-Type’s sound and style is diverse, deadly and very much his own.

S-Type holds the accolade of winning the first ever Louis Den Beats League, a beat battle that attracts the finest new hip hop producers that the world has to offer. Having taken the title in 2008, he developed his sound further, fusing elements of crunk, grime and dubstep, melting everything together to cause dancefloor carnage and breaking through genre boundaries with ease. He recently performed live and gave a lecture at the Red Bull Music Academy and 2010, imparting the indepth production knowledge he has been gathering since he started making music as a precocious 15 year old.

2010 saw him produce tracks for vocalists such as Laws, Tek of Smif n Wessun and Emilio Rojas, adding to his back catalogue of collaborative beats and solo productions. He finished the year of in style with the much lauded ‘Medusa’ EP for burgeoning Glasgow label Phuturelabs, stepping out from behind the desk to take centre stage. Having garnered praise from XLR8R as well as DJ support coming in thick and fast from Joker, Bok Bok, Girl Unit, Jackmaster, Kavsrave, Jacques Greene and many more, the 3 track EP is filled with unshakable hooks, the deepest of sub bass and neck jerking synth lines that have announced S-Type to the wider world.

2012 will see S-Type release an EP for the prestigious LuckyMe records to keep the blood rushing and bodies moving.

Biog:

Craig Gallacher aka Point To C is fast becoming one of the very best young DJs in the UK right now. Having made a name for himself in Scotland with a select few DJ sets at some of the freshest clubs and events going, his reputation is beginning to get so far head of itself he often finds it looking back at him as it hurries into the distance. A regular at Mixed Bizness events, the infamous ‘How’s Your Party?’ nights at Sub Club, Glasgow’s sublime Ivy bar as well as holding it down as an occasional resident at Hush Hush in both Aberdeen & Edinburgh, he has found himself sharing the stage and, more often than not, upstaging the likes of Benga, Jamie xx, Toddla T, MF Doom, Starkey, Bullion, Matthew Dear and Paul White amongst a host of others. Throw in guest appearances at Glasgow’s sweaty Subcity Radio parties, Snafu in Aberdeen, Reading Rooms in Dundee and the Big Chill House in London and you can tell it’s very much a case of quality over quantity as he reserves his sets for only the best clubs in the land.

With an ever developing musical palette, Point To C’s DJ sets take in all that is good about modern dance music while referencing the finest moments from the past. The likes of Africa Hitech, Addison Groove and Actress rub shoulders with classic Strictly Rhythm records, authentic Detroit techno and all the best contemporary UK bass music to be released in recent times, with a little bit of spoken word sprinkled here and there to join the dots nicely. Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel have certainly taken notice having showcased his incredible ‘You People’ mix on their weekly radio show as one of the finest mixes to emerge in 2009. In 2011 he has plans to unleash for a small selection of live AV projects, taking it up a notch or two for both ears, eyes and feet.

Not content with being an ill DJ of such repute, Craig also finds time to be the Mixed Bizness artistic director for our full calender of events. His award-winning work has been exhibited as far as Shanghai, and has caught the attention of many, which had led to commissioned work from o2, Warp Records, Sub Club, Ninja Tune, London’s Soundcrash, Myuzyk and so many more, all of which have enlisted his services to bring an unrivalled character and style to their designs. His portfolio can be seen on his Grampian Mountains website, showcasing all his work in it’s glorious entirety.

First starting his rise smashing chumps via DJ battles, Bristol’s Parker soon turned his hand to production gaining “lofty comparisons to the marvellous RJD2″. The driving soul and deep bass of his debut album To Eternity was described by DJ Magazine as having thrown “stylistic doors open wide with deliciously pleasing results”.

This exploration of different musical realms is what defines Parker, and what makes him “uncategorisable”. After the blissed out beats of his early work Parker ran full pelt into to more bottom end frequencies. Amongst his numerous bass laden treats, Parker’s remixes of James Brown and Bjork both topped the Hype Machine Chart, whilst ‘Where’s My Monkey?’ made him a household name. Parker’s accomplished and varied production has been used to effect by the BBC, EA Sports and Playstation.

2011 saw Parker make another sidewards shift into pastures new, joining forces with fellow Bristolian Boca45 as one half of The Beekeepers. The result was ‘Apiculture’ a feast of chilled out beats, hip hop production and dubby bass which featured a myriad of delicious vocal sounds from leading lights in the UK scene.

As a DJ Parker has gained a reputation as one of the most versatile cross-genre selectors in clubs today. Bringing together the vital elements of Bass Music, Parker effortlessly glides between glitch hop, dubstep, garage, house and DnB with ease. His undisputed deck talents have seen Parker smash stages at Glastonbury, Shambhala (Canada), Big Chill and Bestival, as well as various club hot spots across the globe including FabricLive.

Parker’s latest offerings will come courtesy of his new label Monkey Butler, giving him absolute freedom to open those “stylistic doors” even further. Who knows what sound he’ll be running, or inventing next, one thing is for sure, it’s guaranteed to be something different.

Biog

The ever-eclectic DJ Moneyshot has won a mad decent following for his killer mixtapes, bubbling live sets, and party-smacking tunes. He’s an all round good egg, and jaw-droppingly nimble ‘pon the decks. His style is mad tight, and best described as “dancefloor beats, booties and bass with hip-hop skills,” if you ever find yourself in a situation needing it.

When he’s not getting big love in ink, he’s getting props from cats in the field. Yoda admits to biting mixes off him, and DJ Food called him his favourite DJ out there right now. Praise indeed.

Thanks to his official induction into Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio family, Moneyshot has being shining hard on the mixtape scene. His sets are the stuff of legend. Besides rocking thousands of downloads, winning Mix of the Year, and hitting over 36 countries a month, they all sound dope on your way to work.

Bar that, in the style of the day, Moneyshot has recently branched out into making tunes, and has had crazy airplay from Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn over at BBC Radio 1. His recent Stunt Cock EP on bootie legend label Big M has been smashing dancefloors worldwide, and his remixes of House head Eats Everything and Rap superstar Joe Driscoll are characteristically off the chain.

Although he has been saying “this is my year” since around ’93, 2012 is Moneyshot’s year. He’s not sure what to do with it yet, but is looking forward to a jam-packed summer of festivals and mad European gigs.

He loves you, your girlfriend loves him, and he is now taking crazy bookings like a cut-price Vegas wedding chapel.
