It’s proper good. Here’s what the High Sheen guys have to say about it all…
Based in Glasgow, Scotland, High Sheen is a label aiming to cultivate and push forward the musical talent that hails from our city and beyond.
Our debut release is a collaboration between three of the label’s resident artists – Mia Dora, HaHaHa & Raksha – who over the coming months will have their own EPs put to wax in their own rights. For now ‘High Sheen’ is the result, the eponymous song with which they have merged their three distinctive styles to create a piece of truly interesting club music that sets the tone for what we are all building towards in the future.
This track is designed for the dance floor; stuttered drums collide with the deepest of low ends, while frenetic organ stabs build into a driving force that keeps you guessing from start to finish.
Artwork comes courtesy of Grampian Mountains.
Released today, it’s available from all good retailers so get it…
Check this classic mix from DJ Moneyshot. We won’t bore, the man himself can do that for us…
‘Blast from the past time. This is my ‘Don’t Panda’ mix from like ten years ago. Finally tracked down a copy. All live, all vinyl. Originally recorded onto MiniDisc! I remember one of the direct drive decks being being bust and being as unsteady as a belt-drive. Any hoo. It shows what I was into back then – fat funk, a few acapellas, hip-hop realness and the odd pop nugget layered up. Nik Kershaw over EPMD, anyone?
Side note: DJ Yoda reviewed it in Hip-Hop Connection mag and admitted to biting a mix off it. Flattery indeed. Enjoy…’
This new mix from Boom Monk Ben is another club mix of deep, bass riddims, jacking house numbers, old school classics, unreleased exclusives and future anthems. Almost every one of the artists is playing a Mixed Bizness party at some point in 2012 and this mix sums up where Benny Boom is at just now. It starts off quite deep and wonky and slowly turns the screw as it goes, upping the jack factor before pulling out the classics to send them home.
Hint has recorded another promo mix to help stoke the fires in the run up to his new album, released on Tru Thoughts on March 19th. This time it’s a bit od a history lesson…
‘The second mix I’ve made in the run up to my album release on March 19th 2012 is about history – a collection of some of my favourite productions from Roni Size, DJ Die, DJ Krust and Suv from the mid to late 90s.
The sheer volume and variety of releases these guys put out in a 5 year period was amazing, and the sound and style of these records had a big influence on me. They moved effortlessly between lighter melodic productions and heavy tear out tracks, but there was always a common thread, whether they were working individually or collectively. Many of these tracks are great examples of just how much you can do with not much more than some drums and a bassline.’
This is the first in a series of mixes Hint will be putting up in the run-up to his new album release on March 19th.
Mix 01 is a 55 min House mix. Mostly new and forthcoming releases, with an old classic thrown in too.

Mungo’s Hi-Fi get about a bit. That much we know. In October 2011 they paid New York City a visit and took it by storm. What else did they expect? Even better is the fact they hooked up with Dub Spot to record it oh so sweetly. It’s 47 minutes of serious dub pressure featuring nothing but Mungo’s cuts from beginning to end with exclusives, unreleased skankers and all those deep bass rumblers we know and love…

Clash Magazine and Gio Goi have joined forces to bring a free party to the people of Glasgow. They’ve booked DJ Yoda and our very own Boom Monk Ben. It’s on Thursday 8th December at Sub Club. It all adds up. We’ll see you there.
Check out this fresh DJ mix from Benny Boom to get you bubbling ahead of time…
Is it that time of year already?! Yes, yes it is! Our main man DJ Cheeba has been locked in his DJ dungeon for what seems like an eternity, working hard on his all new audio visual mixtape. Unsurprisingly it’s not far off being the best thing ever. Yeah, we said it. What of it?!
Check out this rocking mix from the Dirty Dubsters with live MC action & a selection of un-released tracks coming up soon on Irish Moss records. It’s a fresh exclusive for the Bodytonic Podcast series but we thought we’d help spread the word. Get ‘pon the download now…
With the British Isles celebrating Bonfire Night, (the occasion of a failed attempt to blow the timbers off the House of Lords, and explode King James I), our very own DJ Moneyshot observes this historic date with a themed mixtape fit to bursting with incendiary songs celebrating civil unrest. Before the Rozzers turn up we [...]
This week is an exciting week. Our HYP? residency at Glasgow’s famous Sub Club reaches the ripe old age of 4 years old. During that time we have welcomed a mammoth list of DJs and live acts for your musical entertainment and had a lot of fun along the way. From Chromeo to Fake Blood, Toddla T to Mary Anne Hobbs, we’ve kept them coming and you’ve shown nuff love as we go.
This month we’ve invited Glasgow’s renegade party starting crew Vitamins to throw a birthday bash in our honour. They’ve pulled out all the stops with a triple bill that’s sure to get you frothing at the mouth. Seiji, Objekt and Lando Kal will be jetting in to jam it down but for now we have one half of the Vitamins DJ crew, Shaun Fae Solar, with a live mix recorded recently on Subcity Radio to keep you keen. Get involved and see you at HYP X Vitamins – 4th Birthday Halloween Bashup.
It’s been a while since we have a new DJ mix from our number one batty winder Mr Benn. He’s a busy man so we don’t hold it against him. He’s not one to neglect us completely so he’s sent us this live recording of his set at the fantastic Shambala Festival on 28th August 2011. No tracklisting but you know the vibes come correct…
Hint is back with another DJ mix. Not only ius he one of our very favourite producers, he’s a bad man when manning the tables as well. By now you know the score, upfront awkward dance music mixed with style and precision. It’s just what he does. Keep it simple stupid…
Everyone knows there ain’t no party like a Parker party. The new ones he ripped for us at Club 520 in Glasgow and Reading Rooms in Dundee last week were testament to that. Not to mention the many other times he’s played for us, the international tour dates, festival slots and his super awesome ‘Did It…’ mixtape series. They call him party packing royalty and if the crown fits…
The man himself is never one to rest on his laurels and he’s back once again with a new chapter in his DJ mixes. The monkey, the butler…they may have done it but they’re long gone now. Let’s see what’s behind that bookcase…
Our man DJ NoFace is one of our favourite DJs. Lucky for us he’s also one of our residents. Life can be good like that sometimes. He’s been busy in the lab recording another fresh to death DJ mix for our heads and feet and this time he’s kept it oh so real and left his laptop in it’s bag. It’s vinyl only for that snap, crackle and POP. The tunes are upfront and mixed with typical precision and expertise but you know what to expect when NoFace steps up. Straight heaters, no messin.
Our main man Boom Monk Ben has recorded this all new DJ mix for our good friends over at Synth to promote the upcoming return of Jack Beats to How’s Your Party? at Sub Club in Glasgow. They seem to like it. You might too. It’s 29 tracks in just over an hour and goes this way then the next. Standard styles.
Our very own Point To C has been busy at work in the lab recording this quick fire DJ mix for Glasgow super club The Arches. Recorded to promote their forthcoming event featuring Mark Pritchard & Steve Spacek aka Afrika Hitech, as well as Glaswegian dubstep crooner Rudi Zygadlo, Point To C has done the business yet again.
Our main man DJ Cheeba has recorded a quick fire, pan flashing 12 minute DJ mix for London juggernauts Soundcrash. It’s 12 tracks deep, mixed with typical style and flair and leaves you gasping for air so get involved…
Our very own Point To C has been at it again. When he’s not busy designing all our fantastic artwork he’s been known to knock up a few high quality DJ mixes in his time. His DJ sets always brim with sophistication and display an instinctive sense of space and timing that set him apart as one of our very favourite record spinners. He sounds like no one else and we never want him to change. Check out this new mix from the man himself for our good friends at I Hate Fun. It’s an hour of blissful Electronic, Techno, Bass and Chicago House music for all the heads so get involved…
Irish ragga madmen Dirty Dubsters are the latest recruits to get on board here at MBHQ. We are delighted to represent the party starting dynamic duo for their international DJ bookings and to commemorate this most holy of unions the guys have recorded an exclusive DJ mix for us to share with you all. It showcases Dirty Dubsters DJ sets as they”re meant to be heard, giving you all a taste of what to expect when they stop by your town to flex their DJ pecs…
Next week we welcome Riva Starr to the Sub Club for the latest HYP? event at Glasgow’s very best underground bass bunker. That’s exciting in itself but what’s really getting us going is the prospect of catching our very own HaHaHa bring the noise like only he can. In 30 quick fire minutes he takes us from Burial & Fourtet, through Jamie Woon and Matia Aguyo into Zombie Disco Squad before reaching the joys of Martyn. Not forgetting to drop his upcoming Mia Dora remix along the way of course. It’s one of the best mixes we’ve heard since the last HaHaHa mix so do the right thing and click your way to happiness…
Latest Mixed Bizness recruit and Skanky Panky Records label head William Breakspear has dropped this storming DJ mix ahead of his debut EP for Rocstar Recordings. ‘Innovation’ featuring Credit To The Nation & Georgina Upton is released worldwide on July 4th but if you can’t wait that long we suggest you sit on your hands and [...]
Our big boss man Benny Boom is back in the saddle for Solid Steel with a new and exclusive mix of fairly new, really new and unreleased tracks that have been spinning in his sets recently. They all go down well and were yet to feature in his mixes, so he brought them all together and gave them a home. There’s no concept or agenda, just running riddims to make the party people go buckwild.
