Our main man and resident MC Profisee is set for a massive year. His album ‘From All Angles’ is set to drop and features collaborations with Neil Landstrumm, S-Type, Dam Mantle, AK Kids, Poirier, Nasty P, Scharkz and Dems. Yep, it’s sounding big but that should come as no surprise. Before the LP comes your way you can get your hands on this future anthem from all good record stores. Produced by Starkey, it’s a jump up, synth led, grime inflected banger with a sing-a-long hook you wish you’d written. It’s released today on digital and ltd 12″ through Abaga Records.
Mr Benn is beginning 2012 in the only way he knows how. With a dancehall skank. He’s flipped the new Monkey Mafia single into a digital bounce off, just how we like it. Out now from all respectable music retailers.
Parker, our brother in bass, launches his Monkey Butler label on this very day, with the first release coming from the man himself. Featuring long time collaborator Sarah Scott, he’s come correct with some future bass soul, the likes of which you’ve never heard. It’s sexy but tough, like the best Valentines Days. Check the preview and get to know. Buy direct from the links below…
This limited edition 10” single is a tasty upfront treat for the vinyl junkies, preceding the digital single release by five weeks; the AA-side “Aliens Enter” featuring T-Fly is exclusive to the vinyl version, and will not be made available digitally at all until the album drops on 19th March.
‘Crash And Burn’ featuring Natalie Storm is a take on current UK house music, mixed with Jamaican dancehall. Catchy yet intense, it is undeniably a pretty heavy party tune, but through the serious and thought-provoking lyrics, which address injustices in the World, the Jamaican vocalist proves that not every club banger has to be all about partying. A very early leak, to a handful of tastemakers, has been met with immense support, with confirmed radio play from DJs including Rob da Bank on BBC Radio 1.
‘Aliens Enter’ feat. T-Fly grew from a killer beat that Hint had made but could not pinpoint the right vocalist to do it justice; that is, until Tru Thoughts A&R Robert Luis came back from SXSW raving about a young female MC he’d seen performing there in a showcase for the Austin Hip Hop Cipher, a charitable community project that helps young performers explore and express their musical talents. As soon as T-Fly started rapping at that show, the buzz was so intense that everyone whipped out their phones and cameras to film this extraordinary talent, and Luis – knowing that Hint was looking for someone to perfect this track – felt that frisson more than most. Hint says of the teenaged MC: “T-Fly really picked up on the more “far out” elements of the beat. It’s off-key and peculiar. You feel that she gets really caught up in performing and I think that’s what the track is about - music as something supernatural.”
Fremdtunes release their See-A-Sound compilation today. Featuring tracks from our own Soosh and the likes of Kelpe & Coco Bryce, you know it’s worth getting involved in. Check out the snippets and do the right thing…
We are excited to announce that Soosh, Glasgow producer and darling of XLR8R, has joined Mixed Bizness and is available now for bookings world wide. Get to know and get in touch…
Soosh aka Soroosh Khavari was born in Iran, escaping to Scotland fleeing persecution when a year old with his family. Taking a year out from his job as a dentist, Soosh went travelling and found his niche in British Columbia, Canada. Armed with a tape recorder, sampler, couple of synthesizers and an overflowing heart, there he finally managed to finish his first works. Described by indie electronic darlings Alpha Pup as ‘Juicy, warm and deep sound with plenty of microscopic details and soothing mental rhythm, lyric mood of a summer evening and crumbling crystals of subtle percussion’ - all this forms a little “big” world of Soosh.’
His debut release was the massively well received ‘Soosh’ EP for Jumble Records, which was swiftly followed by his effortlessly ethereal remixes for Shlomo and Sina. All of which have garnered him fans all over the globe, from Daedelus to XLR8R, ensuring he finished 2011 as he means to go on. 2012 will see releases for Up My Alley, Fremdtunes and Project Mooncircle, the latter being a collaborative EP with UK beat smith Memotone, as we all lie back and take notice.
The fruit of Soosh’s labours make like a melodic abstract syrup, laced with a healthy dose of b-boy bravado and blended with a pinch of intricate soul. Infatuated with complex textures, floating rhythms and all post-post Soosh invites us to take a break from all the swag and boom-boom wonk-dom that clogs up our airways and routes of sonic travel so often these days.

It’s a vinyl only release for now so cop the 12″ from Juno while you still can…
