Craig Gallacher aka Point To C is not only the freshest faced member of the Mixed Bizness team but is also fast becoming one of the very best young DJs in UK right now. Having made a name for himself in Scotland with a select few DJ sets at some of the freshest clubs and events going, his reputation is beginning to get so far head of itself he often finds it looking back at him as it hurries into the distance. A regular at Mixed Bizness events as well as the revered Plastic Soul night at Dundee’s Reading Rooms, he has found himself sharing the stage and, more often than not, upstaging the likes of Benga, Toddla T, DJ Vadim, The Nextmen, Bullion and Paul White. Most of the time he manages this while Boom Monk Ben peers over his shoulder with a pen and pad planning to pretend he discovered all the tunes he’s about to steal from him. Throw in guest appearances at LuckyMe’s Ballers Social Club and forthcoming sets at Sub Club in Glasgow and Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh and you can tell it’s very much a case of quality over quantity as he reserves his sets for only the best clubs in the land.
With an ever developing musical palette, Point To C’s DJ sets take in all that is good about modern dance music from the stuttered hip hop musings of Hudson Mohawke to the p-funked dub bass of Joker, the wonky acid of Luke Vibert to the bastard dancehall of Modeselektor, all mixed with surgical precision and renowned for inducing much rhythmic response from those in attendance. Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel have certainly taken notice having showcased his incredible ‘You People’ mix on their weekly radio show as one of the finest mixes to emerge in 2009. In 2010 Point To C will unleash a full audio visual set on your senses, taking it up a notch or two for all you party people. Keep your ears and eyes to the street as it takes shape and makes the transition from his imagination to a club near you.
Not content with being an ill DJ of such repute, Point To C also finds time to be the Mixed Bizness artistic director, supplying us with his award winning promotion designs that have established themselves as some of the finest going. His visual and design work has garnered praise and commissioned work from Warp Records, Tru Thoughts, Ninja Tune and London’s Soundcrash events. His portfolio can be seen on his Grampian Mountains blog but pay attention as the Grampian Mountains website goes live any day now and will showcase all his work in it’s glorious entirety.
