Rob Threezy

Nighshifters / 2 Hype

Biog:

Since the inception of house, a lot of attention has been focused on Chicago for bringing the freshest sounds and most promising names to dance music. A new generation of producers and DJs has emerged and leading the pack is the South Side’s own Ghetto Division. One of the crew’s most well‐known members Roberto Herrera, AKA Rob Threezy or Rob 3 is a native Chicagoian, the latest in a family of DJs. It’s no surprise then that Rob has become a powerhouse producer in just five short years.  He’s created an inimitable style which traverses genres from ‐ disco to dubstep, bmore to techno. His recent releases, The Change Up EP & The Rob Threezy EP‐ out on Nightshifters and 2 Hype respecitvely – showcase his original blend of styles, as well as a love affair with bassline and the classic cut up 90’s rave sound. Rob’s brought this easy ability to mix and match influences to remixes for the likes of Diplo, Tommie Sunshine, AC Slater, Zombie Disco Squad, Donna Summer, Noise Floor Crew, and Jokers of the Scene. A Rob Threezy production might bring to mind a rave/bassline vibe, but at the heart of every track is homage to that hometown sound: house.

Of course, he’s not alone, as Rob along with Charlie Glitch, Maddjazz and Rampage formed the DJ/production crew known  as Ghetto Division. They’ve since garnered attention for their distinctive take on the future sound of Chicago and dance music in general. And the scene is listening. Besides a highly‐publicized alliance with the New Jersey / Philadelphia based Brick Bandits, Rob Threezy has shared the decks with celebrated trendsetters Diplo, DJ Sega, Boy 8‐Bit, Flosstradamus, and made clubs bang across the states, as well as SXSW. Together, Ghetto Division has released an E.P. on 2 Hype Records in Feb. ‘09 which included the Rob Threezy produced track “Your Love” and they have many more projects in the works. As well as keeping up with demand for his floor filling, arm flailing remixes, Rob is also prepping for a European tour in 2010.
