The home of the Schlachthofbronx is to be found right in Munich’s city centre, between the goods yard, the slaughterhouse, the former hostel for asylum seekers besides a deserted playground and the central food warehouse, where business takes place all night long. Here originates the sound they call Munich Bass; a dirty hybrid of Ghettotech, Kuduro, Coupe Decale, Dancehall, Dubstep and Miami Bass. Their one and only aim, put simply is: GHETTO-BASS IN YA FACE!
Made up of Subbass Commandante Graf von Stierenfroed, Bass King T and DJ King Augenring, the three members of the band hail from different musical backgrounds but share a history steeped in the local DJ and soundsystem culture. They are united through their unfaltering commitment to bass music. True to their motto ’sleep is commerce’, they can be found spreading their ghetto bass gospel at festivals and clubs all over their native Germany and into Europe. Whether you are treated to one of their soon to be legendary live shows or are left wanting more from their genre defying DJ sets, you’ll know it’s them bringing you the lickshots, rave sirens and whistles and of course GHETTO-BASS!
August 2009 saw the release of ‘dto’, their debut album for renowned Munich based label Disko B and has seen them championed by taste makers such as Diplo, Sinden and Annie Mac. Add to that a forthcoming EP for the infamous Man Recordings and a choice selection of remixes and we will be hearing a lot more from Schlachthofbronx in 2010. Constant European touring has seen them play just about every major city on our fair continent as they build an incredible fan base across the land and continue to spread their ghetto bass from land to land.
