Munich is often limited to stuff like the Oktoberfest and - musically speakin - “Giorgio Moroder” Disco music. But more and more people know that the capital of Bavaria is not only a hot spot for beer but also for deep BASS music. No surprise that Munich based Schlachthofbronx – along with their steadily growing fanbase – are best known and represented in the wide music blog scene. Just little more than two years after the two-piece started to produce music they are well-known all around the globe – mainly because their constant presence on all the important blogs (Mad Decent, Fader, xlr8r, Discobelle, you name it!) - but also massively backed by their debut album on Disko B in Autumn 2009 and their critically acclaimed Ayoba EP on Man Recordings. After doing a huge round of festivals all over Europe (Roskilde, Lowlands, Dour, Melt!, Eurockeenes, Frequency etc…) in summer 2010, they’re now back with new remixes and collaborations.
Schlachthofbronx is not just a tongue twister for the makers of Anglo-hipster blogs. Even the fact that two Krauts shamelessly mix African, Latin & Carribean Beats with every single form of Bass music causes confusion. Not enough, Schlachthofbronx go totally insane occasionally and hybridise even that weird stuff again with Balkan Brass and cross-grained traditional Bavarian “Volksmusik”.
Schlachthofbronx travel not only through the web – but also worldwide through the clubs: from Europe to Africa, meeting other producers, founding new projects. That’s why the list of collaborators on their debut album is really a long one. In South Africa they played some shows along with Playdoe. “Afrogalactic Hero“ and rapper of Sweat.X, Spoek Mathambo, is part of the game as well. He is together with Bigspace also known as “Slushpuppykids” – who did three tracks on the album. Too confusing? Never mind, the speed Schlachthofbronx does collaborations nobody really can keep up with. on top of that, they recently delivered remixes (for Balkanbrass-king Shantel, for dutch club chefs Boemklatsch, for German electro hypes Discotrashmusic as well as for Acidkids etc….), and lots of brand new collabos which will drop during all autumn and winter.
