Biog:

Soosh aka Soroosh Khavari was born in Iran, escaping to Scotland fleeing persecution when a year old with his family. Taking a year out from his job as a dentist, Soosh went travelling and found his niche in British Columbia, Canada. Armed with a tape recorder, sampler, couple of synthesizers and an overflowing heart, there he finally managed to finish his first works. Described by indie electronic darlings Alpha Pup as ‘Juicy, warm and deep sound with plenty of microscopic details and soothing mental rhythm, lyric mood of a summer evening and crumbling crystals of subtle percussion’ – all this forms a little “big” world of Soosh.’

His debut release was the massively well received ‘Soosh’ EP for Jumble Records, which was swiftly followed by his effortlessly ethereal remixes for Shlomo and Sina. All of which have garnered him fans all over the globe, from Daedelus to XLR8R, ensuring he finished 2011 as he means to go on. 2012 will see releases for Up My Alley, Fremdtunes and Project Mooncircle, the latter being a collaborative EP with UK beat smith Memotone, as we all lie back and take notice.

The fruit of Soosh’s labours make like a melodic abstract syrup, laced with a healthy dose of b-boy bravado and blended with a pinch of intricate soul. Infatuated with complex textures, floating rhythms and all post-post Soosh invites us to take a break from all the swag and boom-boom wonk-dom that clogs up our airways and routes of sonic travel so often these days.

Sit back, relax, dance…
